Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a Rental Agreement provided at the time of booking confirmation or when you collect your vehicle. This document outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance information, and your responsibilities regarding the rental. Should any discrepancies arise between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the latter will take precedence.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a Vehicle in Lancing
- To rent a vehicle from Car Hire in Lancing, you must be at least 21 years old, though age restrictions may vary by vehicle type, with extra fees applicable for drivers under 25. A valid, full driving licence appropriate for the vehicle category is required, held for the duration specified in the Rental Agreement. Additionally, you must present valid identification and proof of your current address, along with payment details and a security deposit. Any other requirements outlined in the Rental Agreement must also be met.
Booking and Payment Details
- Reservations can be made via our website, by phone, or directly at our Lancing office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The total payment and security deposit are usually required upon vehicle pickup. All prices are quoted in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment partners.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, a thorough inspection is required to identify any pre-existing damage, which must be reported immediately. A vehicle condition report will be generated and signed by both parties for documentation. Upon return, the vehicle should be in the same condition as it was collected, subject to normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged appropriately. The vehicle must be returned with the same fuel level as collected; refueling fees will apply if it is returned with less fuel. Returns beyond the agreed time may incur extra charges, so please inform us as soon as possible if you expect a delay. You will be responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during the rental period, in addition to an administrative fee.
Insurance and Liability Details
- All rentals come with basic third-party insurance coverage. Detailed information regarding coverage and excess amounts is included in your Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be available to lower your financial responsibility. Please review these options carefully. You will be liable for any damage or loss up to the excess amount, unless additional insurance is purchased. Damage resulting from negligence or misuse remains your responsibility, regardless of insurance coverage.
6. Cancellations and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice given. For detailed information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur additional charges.
Prohibited Activities
Prohibited Vehicle Use
- The vehicle may not be used for any illegal activities, including racing, rallying, or off-roading. Transporting hazardous materials or allowing unauthorized drivers is prohibited. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. Additionally, adhere to designated passenger and weight limits, and do not operate the vehicle outside of agreed geographical boundaries without prior consent.
Breach of terms may lead to rental cancellation and fees.
8. Liability Limitations in Lancing
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Lancing is not responsible for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims is limited to the amount paid for rental in the past 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence or fraud.
Local Legal Framework
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising will be resolved exclusively in the courts of England and Wales.
